Trustee’s death creates vacancy on CCSC board

Friday the Carroll Consolidated School Corporation lost a true friend. Dave Lambert, a long-time board member and benefactor to the corporation, died unexpectedly. Three nights earlier he had been elected to the school board to fill the unexpired term of Jon Johnson, who had resigned with two years remaining on his term.

Lambert was sworn in at the beginning of the meeting and began his trustee duties immediately.

Lambert, who served on the board for 12 1/2 years from 2006 to 2018, chose not to seek re-election in 2018 and Johnson was elected to fill the position representing Carrollton Township. Johnson resigned from the board effective Nov. 9. He submitted his letter of resignation, as required, to the Carroll County Clerk on Nov. 6. Superintendent Keith Thackery made the announcement at the Nov. 10 school board meeting.

Lambert had told the Comet he was looking forward to being back on the school board and felt he had a lot to contribute.

The school board will elect a replacement to fill the vacancy at a future board meeting.
