Time for property tax second installment

The second installment of Carroll County property taxes is due Nov. 12, according to County Treasurer, Melinda Rossetter. Taxpayers should be aware the courthouse will be closed Nov. 5 for the Municipal Election and Nov. 11 to observe Veterans’ Day. Mailed payments must be postmarked no later than Nov. 12 to avoid penalty.

Payment instructions are on the billing statements mailed in April. Payments may be made in person or mailed to the Carroll County Treasurer’s Office at 101 W. Main St., Delphi, IN 46923. Normal office hours are Mondays, Tuesdays,

Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to noon.

Tax payments can be made using a credit or debit card in the office or online for an additional 3% fee charged by the credit card merchant processor. A link to pay property taxes online can be found on the Treasurer’s Office page under the “MORE” on the official Carroll County website, Taxpayers should detach and return the payment coupon with payment to ensure prompt posting. Payment coupons are appreciated for accurate posting when paying in person or when paying by mail. If payment is mailed and a receipt is requested, taxpayers should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Failure to receive a tax statement by mail does not relieve taxpayer responsibility for payment and penalties when delinquent. Partial payments are accepted, however the entire amount must be paid by the due date to avoid penalty.
