Flora wants vehicles removed for street sweeping

Comet staff report

The Town of Flora will begin taking an aggressive approach to vehicle owners who do not move their vehicles for street sweeping.

Town employees sweep the streets the last Friday of each month. Signs have been posted stating that vehicles need to be off the street on that date between 1 and 6 a.m.

Even with the signs, Town Marshal Paul Redmon said that there is still a problem with people parking in that zone. The marshal will be sending out letters informing downtown residents that if their vehicle is not moved for street sweeping, it will be towed at their expense.

Redmon warned that there have been a couple of reports of a person looking in windows in the west end of town. He urged citizens who witness suspicious activity to call police immediately.

It was the consensus of the council that the Community Club is responsible for painting the building.
