Delphi, Carroll and Rossville announce graduations




Delphi

Delphi Community High School will hold commencement exercises June 1 at 10:30 a.m. in the high school gymnasium.

Delphi Community High School Class President, Grace Foster Hampton will deliver the opening statement. The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by class secretary, Nichole Marie Hall and class treasurer, Karli Michelle Edging.

Addresses will be given by the valedictorian and salutatorian.

Diplomas will be presented to the graduates by Principal Kyle Trebley, School Board President Jerry Sparks, Superintendent Ralph Walker and Assistant Principal Alan W. Brannan will offer congratulations to each graduate.

The high school band will perform under the direction of Jay Dennison and The Entertainers under the direction of Kevin Kayser.

The class of 2013 motto is: “He not busy being born is busy dying” Bob Dylan. The class flower is a Gerber Daisy; class colors are black, gold and silver and the class song is “Long Live” by Taylor Swift.

Class officers are: Grace Foster Hampton, president; Sarah Anne Coghill vice-president; Nichole Marie Hall, secretary and Karli Michelle Edging, treasurer.

Senior Awards Night will be May 31 at 7 p.m. in the high school gymnasium and seniors receiving awards will appear in next week’s issue.

Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School will hold its 52nd annual Commencement June 1 at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Gymnasium.

There are 77 students in this year’s graduating class.

The high school band, under the direction of Andy Cherolis, will play the prelude concert and the processional, “Pomp and Circumstance.”

The opening will be given by senior Caitlin Pickens.

Senior Cougar Blues members, under the direction of Brandon Majors, will sing “My Wish” (arrangement by Ed Lojeski).

Principal Angela Moreman will recognize outstanding seniors, including the Carroll Honor Award recipient.

Addresses will be given by Senior Class president, Paige Spesard, and by the valedictorian and salutatorian.

Cougar Blues will sing “You Raise Me Up” (arrangement by Roger Emerson.)

Moreman will present the Class of 2013, and Dr. Christopher Lagoni, superintendent, will accept the graduates. Assistant Principal Fred Schnarr will read the names of the graduates as Moreman presents the diplomas.

“Multimedia Memories,” created by Caitlin Pickens, will feature senior sights and sounds.

Senior Kylie Wagoner will give the closing, followed by the recessional played by the high school band.

Junior Class ushers for the ceremony, from the National Honor Society, will be Derik Caldwell, Seth Eldridge, Kassandra Gillam, Brett Miller, Will Taylor, Zach Turnpaugh.

Weather permitting, the new graduates will greet their family and friends outside the gymnasium immediately following the ceremony.

National Honor Society members from the Senior Class include: Katelyn Baldwin, Courtney Benefiel, Brian Bordner, Kayleigh Bordner, Tallis Bowers, Jacob Bush, Ellen Clark, Blake Claxton, Storm Dreadfulwater, Shelbi Fisher, Samantha Gates, Gavin Hancock, Ted Irwin, Braydon Kitchel, Alexis Lees, Alexander Luzadder, Eric Miller, Allison Nelson, Bridget Peden, Caitlin Pickens, Kaitlin Ragan, Coty Ritter, Paige Spesard, Ryan Spesard, Shelby Stephens, Sarah Thomas, Kylie Wagoner, Maizie Wickersham.

Military enlistees are: Taylor Downham, Brandon Gasser, William Hendrix, James Hodson, Lacy Laughman, and Kanaan Pruitt.

Senior Class officers are Paige Spesard, president; Caitlin Pickens, vice president; Courtney Benefiel, secretary; and Alexis Lees, treasurer.

Class colors are royal blue and silver, class flower is the white rose, and class song is “I Go Back” (Kenny Chesney). The class chose as its motto, “You’re on your own, and you know what you know. And you will be the guy who’ll decide where you’ll go. Oh the places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss. Class sponsor is Tyler Sausaman.

Correction

Times for Senior Awards Night on May 31 and graduation on June 1 for Delphi Community School Corporation were incorrect in last week’s issue. The correct times are 7 p.m. for awards night and 10:30 a.m. for graduation. The public is invited to both.

Rossville

Rossville Middle/High School will hold commencement exercises for the Class of 2013 at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, in the main gymnasium.

The processional, “Pomp and Circumstance” by Edward Elgar, will be played by the high school band. Processional marshals will be Emma Brown and Megan Longenecker.

Jeff Hoover, high school principal, will give the welcome, and Nolan Beery will give the invocation.

Speeches will be given by the valedictorian, salutatorian, and class president.

Lindsay Fife and Eli Wilson will give the class profile.

Dr. James Hanna will give the superintendent’s acceptance, and Mandi Pennington will present the parents.

Rachel Need will give the closing, and Hannah Alling will lead the tassel change.

The high school band will play the recessional.

National Honor Society members from the Senior Class include Alyssa Amore (president), Hannah Alling (secretary), Samantha Brown, Tosha Campbell, Kimberly Depue, Taylor Houser, Mallory Huffer (historian), Bethany McIlrath, Michaela Miller (vice presi- dent), Rachel Need (treasurer), Darin Skiles, and Elijah Wilson.

Class officers are: Alyssa Amore, president; Rachel Need, vice president; Hannah Alling, secretary; and Michaela Miller, treasurer.

The class motto is “As each of us follows our path in life, we will remember these years. We will remember our friends, the laughter, and the pain. Our smiles reflect the memories locked deep within our hearts. Future dreams shine like bright stars against distant nights.” Class flower is the dahlia.
