62nd annual Carroll Commencement is Sunday



Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School will hold its 62nd annual Commencement Sunday, June 4, at 3 p.m. in the Memorial Gymnasium.

The high school band, under the direction of Bryce Styles, will play the prelude concert and the processional, “Pomp and Circumstance.”

A slideshow, “Multimedia Memories,” created by the senior class officers will follow featuring Class of 2023 sights and sounds.

Grayson Gamel will sing the National Anthem. Principal Jeff Shuler will give the welcome and then recognize outstanding seniors, including the Carroll Honor Award recipient, Owen Duff.

Addresses will be given by Senior Class President Grace Ayres and by the valedictorian and the salutatorian.

Shuler will present the Class of 2023, and Carroll Superintendent Keith Thackery will accept the graduates. Presentation of diplomas will be by the principal and superintendent. May will lead the class in turning of the tassel.

The closing will be given by Principal Shuler followed by the high school band playing the recessional.

Weather permitting, graduates will greet family and friends outside the gymnasium following the ceremony.

Class colors are royal blue, white and silver and the class flower is white carnation. “Always Remember You” by Miley Cyrus is the class song. The motto chosen by the class of 2023 is, “The hardest battle you will face in life is to be no one but yourself in a world which is trying its hardest to make you like everybody else.” —- E.E. Other class officers are Lauren Spesard, vice president;

Allison O’Brien, secretary; Johnna Kinzie, treasurer; Madalyn Dinger, communications; and Mason Ray, Daizee Myers and Jake Skinner, members.
