After the victory over county rival, Carroll, Delphi was at Peru where they faced off against the Lady Tigers on Saturday. An even matched game awaited them as they played neck-and-neck with Peru throughout the first half but a big second half from the opposition put Delphi on the wrong side of the scoring column, ultimately losing 51-48.

Starting the game on top, Delphi took a 9-6 lead after the first quarter but Peru clawed back in the second quarter, evening the game up, 20 all going into halftime. Both teams shot nearly identical from the field as Delphi would go on to record 37 percent from the field while Peru notched 36 percent including two double digit scorers, highlighted by Peru’s Courtlyn Crowe’s 26 points.

Delphi led in every statistical category throughout the game including outrebounding Peru by 12 but an 18- point third quarter from the Tigers held off the Oracles.

Delphi was led by 15 from Lillie Smith and 10 from Harley Myers. Myers also notched a game high 10 rebounds. Jordyn Gasser led the team in assists and steals with 5 and 4, respectively.

Delphi will play host to Benton Central on Thursday at 6 p.m. followed by another home stand on Jan. 15 against Sheridan at 6.
