Myers Myers The Carroll County Election Board has lost a member since the beginning of the year. Board member Sam Deiwert resigned the position in a letter dated Jan. 3, 2019. The letter was issued to Carroll County Republican Party Chair Beth Myers and Carroll County Clerk Andrea Miller. Deiwert was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board in 2018 when Republican member Rita Millhouse, decided to run for an elected office.

Deiwert stated in the resignation he agreed to fill the vacancy as the Republican on the Election Board for only the 2018 elections.

“It was a pleasure to serve with Andrea (Miller) and (Democrat) Sandy (Cripe) as well as the volunteers who worked so diligently and efficiently in conducting the election process,” Deiwert stated in the letter. “Vern (Cripe) and Carolyn (Appleton) are real “troopers” and I greatly admire their commitment to serving. Andrea does a marvelous job and Sandy is a rock-solid source of guidance and encouragement.”

County GOP Chair Myers said she is working to keep a full slate on the election board.

“I have contacted a few people about filling this vacancy and I am waiting for responses,” Myers told the Comet Tuesday. “I plan to make an appointment in the next week.”
