Cougars notch another win against Frontier

Ethan Duff led Carroll in scoring with 12 points as he hit four straight three-point attempts and was 4 of 5 from behind the arch. Jalen Ovalle put in 10 points and Quinton Veach added 8 points.

The Cougars never trailed, jumping out to a 5-0 lead. They were up 15-8 after one and increased their lead to 13 points at half-time, 26-13.

In the third quarter, Carroll had pushed its lead to 18 points, 33-15. Up 36-21 after three, the Cougars looked to have the game in control. Frontier saw things differently. The Falcons fought back to within 5 points at 42- 37 with 42.4 seconds left in the game. Carroll was able to hold onto the lead for the win.

Frontier was greatly helped by the Cougars who went 1 of 9, .111 percent, from the foul line and were only 4 of 14, .286 percent for the game. On the night from the field, Carroll shot a respectable 17 of 36, .472 percent while Frontier finished the night 11 of 25, .440 percent and 11 of 19, .579 percent. The Cougars were outrebounded 22 to 17.

Next up for Carroll is Caston there Friday night. JV results

The Cougar JV fell to Frontier at home Friday night for their second loss, 35-32.

In the young Cougars’ credit, they never quit. They were down 10-2 after one and 23-8 at half-time. In the third quarter they were down 31-20 at the end of three. In the fourth quarter they closed the gap to two points on a Cason Lambert fielder to pull to within two at 32-30, but could get no closer.

Lambert led the comeback and Cougars with a game high 10 points. Gabe Lawson added 8 points.
