IDEM manure “spill rule” to be explained in Burlington Nov. 15

By Debbie Lowe, Staff writer

The Carroll County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Mike Fincher along with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is hosting a “Manure Spill Rule” presentation at the Burlington Community Center, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m.   The public is invited.

Fincher said, as a rule of thumb, if people observe what they suspect to be any spill, they should call the 24/7 IDEM Spill Line at (888) 233-7745 or the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department at (765) 564-2413 ext. 1. It is requested callers do not use 911 for this type of call. General IDEM questions should be directed to IDEM at (800) 451-6027.

The community is urged to attend this informative seminar. Questions about manure spills, or possible manure spills, will be taken by both IDEM and county personnel. Fincher can be contacted at EMAdirector@carrollcountyin.gov.
