Veterans remembered and honored for their service

The public is invited to attend the special Veterans Day activities scheduled for Carroll County.

Delphi

The Delphi Community School Corporation will honor veterans Nov. 12 from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Delphi Community High School gymnasium. The Michael Walters Marine Corps League Detachment will present a program along with the Delphi Community High School Band, Entertainers and the Delphi Community Elementary Choir. Special speaker will be Indiana Superintendent of Education Dr. Jennifer McCormick. All veterans and the public are invited to attend.

The Delphi Lions Club will offer free hot dogs to all veterans and their families Nov. 11 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the rotunda of the Carroll County Courthouse in Delphi. Carroll County Historian Mark Smith will also make a presentation to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. For additional information, contact David Maxwell at (765) 430-8532.

Flora

Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School will honor all veterans with a breakfast Nov. 12 at 8:15 a.m. in the cafeteria. A program will follow from 8:50 to 9:34 a.m. with a second program from 9:36 to 10:19 a.m. in the school gymnasium. The Boy Scouts will present the flags and the Carroll County Honor Guard will perform Taps and give a 21-gun salute. The Carroll High School Band and Choir will perform and there will be a guest speaker. The public is invited. On Friday, Nov. 9, Carroll Elementary School will offer all veterans a breakfast at 7:30 a.m. in the cafeteria and a Veteran’s Day program at 8:15 a.m. in the school gymnasium.

St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center

Veterans will be honored with appetizers, dessert and a pinning ceremony Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, located on Armory Rd. in Delphi. The public is invited to attend the ceremony.

Milner Community Health Care

Milner Community Health Care in Rossville will honor veterans for their service Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. with refreshments. The Honor Guard will perform Taps and give a 21-gun salute. All veterans are welcome to attend.
