DCSC school board candidates to debate October 17

The Carroll County Comet will host a public debate between contested seats for the Delphi Community School Board in the Nov. 6 General Election. The event will be Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the High School Commons.

Invited are candidates for the District 1 seat, Steven Myer and Gregory Terry. Candidates in the District 3 race include Jenna Fassnacht and Kirk Schwarzkopf and in the District 7 race, candidates are Benjamin Gleason and Michael Priest.

Debaters will be allowed up to three minutes to introduce themselves and another two minutes to summarize their platforms at the end. Community members will be encouraged to ask questions. Candidates will have ample time to provide the answers and will also be given time for rebuttals to their opponent’s answers.

The Comet will also develop questions for the candidates. Community members who will not be able to attend or who have questions but do not want to pose them are encouraged to send their questions to Debbie Lowe, Staff writer, at dlowe99919@gmail or dlowe@carrollcountycomet.com. Anonymous questions will not be included in the debate. Flora Town Council debate

The Comet will also host a debate for the Flora Town Council At-Large race. Republicans Darrell Yoder and Jacob Adams are opposed by Democrats Jason Burns and Mark Pinkard. The debate will be Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room of the Flora Town Building.

The same rules apply for the Town Council debate as for the DCSC School Board debate. Community members are encouraged to ask ques- tions or submit questions to the Comet. Candidates will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and conclude their presentation.

Polls will open for the Nov. 6 General Election at 6 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. Early voting will begin Oct. 10 on the ground floor area in the courthouse. Questions about polling places or election issues can be directed to Carroll County Clerk Andrea Miller at (765) 564-4485.
