Richard D. Houser

Richard D. “Dick” Houser, 76, of Delphi, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at 3:12 a.m. at his home after a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 3, 1941, in Carroll County, to Dale and Bessie Siefert Houser. He attended Delphi High School. His marriage was to Caroline L. Ridgway in Delphi on May 21, 1960, and she survives.

Richard worked for United Feeds in Brookston for 27 years, retiring in 2005. He and his family enjoyed traveling and he loved to hunt mushrooms in the spring. He liked to watch the Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, and NASCAR. His favorite driver was the late Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Richard dearly loved his family and spending time with them.

Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Rhonda S. Houser of Delphi; sons, Jeff Houser (Teresa) of Delphi and Mark Houser (Sherry) of Lafayette; sisters, Doris Shepard and Nancy Isaacs (David), both of Delphi; a brother, John Houser of Delphi; two grandchildren, Misty McGee (Denny) and Elijah Richard Houser; and three great-grandchildren, Caleb Houser, Cameron McGee, and Madisyn McGee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Wayne, Junior, Clayton, Gene and Danny; and two sisters, Mary and Ruby.

Friends may call Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. until his funeral service at 1 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi.. The Rev. John Wagner will officiate. Burial will follow at the IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
