There are four Flora Republican residents who have filed to fill two places on the November General Election ballot for Town Council At-Large seats. They are Jacob “Jake” Adams, Jim Hancock, Rob Kauffman and incumbent Darrell Yoder.

It is the Republican Party’s responsibility to hold a Town Convention to allow Republican voters to choose who will appear on the November General Election ballot. Those chosen will oppose the two Democrats slated to be on the ballot, Jason Burns and Mark Pinkard.

The Carroll County Republican Party in Flora will hold a Convention Thursday, Aug. 16, in the gymnasium of the Carroll County Community Center, located on SR18 on the east side of Flora. Registration for the convention will begin at 6 p.m.

A business meeting will be called at 6:30 p.m. at which time a vote of all eligible Party members will be taken to adopt the rules of procedure at the convention.

After the rules adoption, the candidates will be certified and each candidate will introduce themselves and have a fiveminute opportunity to speak to the Convention. Registration will close after the candidates speak and a vote of all eligible members of the convention will be taken. Ballots will be counted and the results will be announced by Town Chairman Larry DeVos.

To be eligible to vote at the Flora Convention, an individual must: • Display current identification; • Be a Flora resident voter who registered no later than 29 days before the date of the convention; • Sign a statement, under penalty of perjury, stating;

The person is a member of the Republican Party and no other party, and

The person has voted the Republican Party ballot in the 2015 Primary Election or has supported a majority of the candidates in the General Election.

Questions can be directed to DeVos at (574) 967-3787 prior to the Convention.
