Delphi softball continued to rack up wins last week when the Oracles gained wins over Frankfort and North White before being tripped up by Winamac to end the week’s slate of games.

Against Frankfort May 7, the Oracles jumped out to a 4- 0 lead in the first inning. It was all they needed as they held Frankfort to single runs in the 5th and 7th innings to take a 4-2 win. Aspen Riley struck out 7 in the win while Gabby Gerard totaled 3 hits and 1 RBI.

In the following game against North White, the Lady Oracles were scoreless in the first inning. From that point on they blew the game wide open with multiple runs in every inning forward. In the third, Gerard doubled, accounting for a score followed by a single from Korynn Kinnaird, scoring the team’s second run of the inning. The Oracles would go on to win, 13-3.

Winamac posed problems for the Oracles on Thursday when the Warriors took a 7-3 lead going into the 5th inning. Delphi tried a comeback in the 5th when they carved into the deficit with two runs but a 3-run 6th inning put the Lady Oracles away for good for their fifth loss of the season. Gerard led with 3 hits and 2 RBI’s.

Delphi played Rossville on Tuesday. Their final regular season game on the road will be at Clinton Central on Thursday at 5 p.m. Wednesday will mark the first round of postseason play in the Southmont 2A Sectional 38 where the Oracles will face off against Carroll at 6 p.m. Monday on the DCHS field.
