Delphi baseball manhandles competition

Oracle baseball handled last week’s slate of games with ease. They hosted North White followed by a double header on Saturday against Eminence. With final scores of 10-1, 19-3 and a 15-0 shutout, Delphi moved its overall record to 18-5 going into the final week of regular season.

A 7-run second inning by the Oracles got them ahead of North White for good on Tuesday in a game that had the home team tallying 10 hits and 0 errors. Cade Murray struck out 8 in seven innings for the Oracles’ big win while Zach Townsend led with 3 hits and 3 RBI’s.

In their doubleheader on Saturday, Delphi combined for 28 hits for the day with 16 in their first contest followed by 12 in their second. The Oracles handled Eminence with ease in the first game thanks to 14 runs in the first inning followed by Jordan Roth pitching a shut out in the second game of the day. Roth struck out 7 batters in 5 innings in the Oracles 18th win of the season.

Delphi will finish the season on the road with away games Tuesday at Lewis Cass and at Fountain Central on Thursday, beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, the Oracles will have a double header at Rensselaer starting at 11 a.m.

Tuesday will mark their first round of Central Catholic Sectional 2A play against Western Boone.
