2018 tax statements will be mailed Friday

Comet staff report

Carroll County Treasurer Melinda K. Rossetter announces property taxes are due May 10 and Nov. 13 this year, according to a press release from her office. She said tax statements will be mailed by April 13 with two coupons enclosed - one for each installment’s due date.

Payment instructions are on the statements. Taxpayers should detach and return the payment coupon with payment to ensure prompt posting. If payment is mailed and a receipt is requested, taxpayers should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Payments may be made in person or mailed to the Carroll County Treasurer’s Office at 101 W Main St., Delphi IN 46923. Office hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office is open Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to noon.

Tax payments are accepted online for an additional three percent fee charged by the credit card merchant processor. A link to pay property taxes online can be found at www.carrollcountygovernment.org on the Treasurer’s office page under the “more” tab.

Failure to receive a tax statement by mail does not relieve taxpayer responsibility for payment and penalties. The Treasurer’s office accepts partial payments, however the entire amount must be paid by the due date to avoid penalty.

Taxpayers with a zero balance will receive a statement per Indiana Department of Local Government Finance regulations. Those statements are for information only.

If the tax statement has the word “informational” across it, this means a lender has requested your bill for payment.
