Watson ends DCHS career as 8th winningest wrestler

Watson Watson Ty Watson made the Oracle family proud with his performance Saturday at the East Chicago Wrestling Semi- State. Watson won a close first match against a tough foe from Plymouth, edging him out 6- 5. This was Watson’s first win at the semi state level in four years. He was not so lucky in the second match, putting a close to his stellar career as a Delphi wrestler.

“The season started and we, the Oracles, were not even sure we would get to see Ty wrestle this year,” Coach Mike Atwood said. “He had his knee reconstructed in October because he hurt it in the first football game of the year. Ty worked very hard to return to wrestling this season.

He started wrestling in December on the mat and finished the season with a 22- 5 record. He became one of a handful to qualify for the semi state all four years of his career.”

“Ty also finished his career as the 8th all- time winningest Oracle in our strong wrestling history,” Coach Atwood continued.

“Ty finished with 117 wins in his great career. There is no secret how he did it. He did it by putting the time in on the mat and doing things right!”
