Donald R. Roberson

Donald Ray Roberson passed away after a long battle with cancer in Cutler, Ind., on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at the age of 71.

Born Aug. 31, 1946, in Petersburg, Ind., he was the son of Donald J. and Lucille (Decker) Roberson. He spent some of his younger years in Frankfort before settling in Cutler and graduating from Carroll High School in 1964.

Don started Don’s Pole Buildings in 1968 and has spent the last 50 years building many barns, garages, and homes in the community, as well as opening a hardware store in Cutler for a while.

Don’s favorite pastime was playing Country and Bluegrass music, whether at the Pickin’ Parlor in Cutler or at events and senior centers in the area; it was something he truly loved to do. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Don was a caring man with a huge heart. Many will remember him for his alwayspresent smile, the tricks he played on them, and his tremendous generosity. Even after death he was thinking of others as he donated his body to medical science in the hopes of finding a cure for this horrible disease.

Don is survived by his wife, Cheri Roberson; children, Don Roberson II (Rena) of Radnor, Ind., and Lori Couchot (Dave) of Mason, Ohio; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Carol Hayden of Cutler and Linda Anderson (Rich) of Mentone, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Tommy Roberson.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m. at the Pickin’ Parlor on Main Street in downtown Cutler, with a Celebration of Life to follow until 5 p.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Don’s life.
