Veterans to be remembered and honored for their service

The public is invited to attend special Veterans Day activities scheduled in and around Carroll County on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10 and 11.

Delphi

The Delphi American Legion Post 75, Camden American Legion Post 413 and the Delphi VFW Post 9383 will celebrate Veterans Day Nov. 10 beginning with a program by the Marine Corps League at 9:30 a.m. in the Delphi Community High School gymnasium.

St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi will honor veterans Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. Desserts will be served. All veterans are welcome to attend.

Veterans will be honored with a service Sat., Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Carroll County Courthouse in Delphi. After the service Delphi Lions Club will serve free hot dogs to all veterans and their families at the Courthouse.

Flora

The Delphi American Legion Post 75, Camden American Legion Post 413 and the Delphi VFW Post 9383 will present a program at Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School Fri., Nov. 10. There will be a breakfast at 8 a.m. The first program will be at 9:35 a.m. and the second at 10:15 a.m. with the Honor Guard performing Taps and firing.

Carroll Elementary School will offer veterans a breakfast Nov. 10 at 7:30 a.m. and a Veteran’s Day program Nov. 10 at 8:15 a.m. in the school gymnasium.

Rossville

Milner Community Healthcare in Rossville will honor veterans at a service Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. with cake and ice cream being served. All veterans are welcome.

Monticello

A “Star Spangled Banner” Historical Presentation will be given on Veteran’s Day, Sat., Nov. 11, from 1-2 p.m. at the American Legion Post #81 on E. Washington Street in Monticello. The presentation will be preceded by a free lunch for veterans from noon-1 p.m. Non-veterans can give a freewill donation for lunch if they wish.

A presentation will be given by Shelley G. Jones of Carroll County. She will speak about the history of the “Star Spangled Banner” song and the American flag.
