Purdue Extension announces open house

Carroll County Purdue Extension Service will host an Open House Nov. 11 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the 4-H building in Flora. A free sausage gravy and biscuit breakfast will be served. Donations for breakfast will benefit Carroll County 4-H and Extension Homemakers Scholarship funds.

Attendees will have the opportunity to review various Extension programs. Program highlights include: • Homemakers Clubs demonstrating round loom knitting, • The “Dining with Diabetes and Be Heart Smart” program, • Extension Homemakers and various Extension Programs, and • The opportunity to meet Nutrition Education Program Assistant, Pat Burkhalter.

4-H projects will be available to experience. Participants can meet Junior Leaders and others who are demonstrating the projects. Some projects demonstrated will include: • Outdoor cooking - Taste a mini pizza, • Sewing - make a gift bag, • Lego’s®, • Rabbits - Learn how easy it is to show a rabbit, • Foods and Health - How long will it take to walk off Thanksgiving Dinner, and • Decorating cupcakes.

In addition, those in attendance will be able to meet the new ANR/4-H Youth Extension Educator, Jo Thomas.
