Paul E. Rinehart

Paul Edward Rinehart, 94, of Kokomo, was surrounded by family when he passed away at 4:58 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at Legacy of Waterford in Kokomo.

He was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Howard County, the son of the late Ross and Lucille (Mason) Rinehart. On Feb. 18, 1944, he married Jo Ann Ingels and she survives.

Paul was a 1940 graduate of Ervin Township High School. He served with the United States Army during World War II and earned the rank of corporal.

Paul was a retired farmer and a member of Judson Baptist Church, the American Legion, and Green Acres Golf Club.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Mark E. Rinehart (Wendy) of Hamilton, Ohio; three daughters, Pamela Jo Massengill (Dennis) of Punta Gorda, Fla., Gail Daggett (Kurt) of Galveston, and Gwen Harp (Cecil) of Marietta, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Marnie Cornell, Andy Mulis, Annie Bean, Kyle Rinehart, Erin Elhard, Rachael Webb, JC Webb, and Kelly Brown; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia “Jenni” Prifogle of Kokomo.

He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Nina Rinehart, Marilyn Rinehart, and Maxine Kirby; brothers, Mason Rinehart and Bud Rinehart; and grandson, Ryan Massengill.

Funeral service was held Friday, Oct. 6, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Russiaville, with Pastor Ken Freeland officiating. Burial with military honors followed at South Union Cemetery, Howard County.
