The Oracles went into Friday night’s game hunting for that lone, first win of the season. Coming off of a close defeat to the Twin Lakes Indians the preceding weekend, Delphi traveled to George Washington Community High School in Indianapolis. The Oracles exploded for 21-points, shutting out the opposition in the opening period. They followed that effort up with 34 more points in the second quarter.

Delphi’s offensive highlights began in the opening period when Jadon Kinzie linked up with quarterback, Seth Waters, for a 15-yard touchdown. The initial score was complemented with Delphi’s ground game doing the brunt of the work for the remainder of the quarter as Jayden McClain and Aaron Webb found the end zone.

George Washington didn’t get on the board until midway through the second quarter when the hosts ran a punt back for 98 yards to put 6 points on the board. This is the second week in a row that Delphi has given up a TD on a punt return but they did not lose ground the remainder of the half.

Waters made himself comfortable finding multiple receivers for scores including Blake Carroll and Aaron Webb. Webb scored two more times in the quarter when he returned a fumble for a 26-yard return and also broke open for a 35-yard touchdown. These final scores by Webb were the last of the offensive downpour as Delphi loosened the reins and made quick work of GWHS in the second half, winning with a final of 55-28.

Waters registered 155 yards and 3 TDs on 10-11 passing while McClain hauled in 69 yards receiving, 1 touchdown and 1 interception on defense.

Delphi travels to Tri County this Friday for a 7 p.m. start.
