Edna Ruth Blocher

Edna Ruth Holsinger Graham Blocher, 89, of Flora, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at 6:45 p.m. at a hospice center in Dayton, Ohio.

She was born April 29, 1928, in Colburn, Ind., to the late David and Estella Boyd Holsinger. On Jan. 1, 1956, in Bringhurst, she married Zellar Graham and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1965. She married Floyd Blocher on Oct. 16, 1983, in Rossville; he preceded her in death on May 10, 2010.

Ruth attended the former Ervin School in Howard County, and later received her GED. She graduated from the Kokomo School of Nursing with her LPN degree.

She was a homemaker and helped her husband, Zellar, on their farm. After his death she worked as an LPN for St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo for 14 years. After her marriage to Floyd, she was able to return to the care of her home.

Ruth was a member of the Bachelor Run Old German Baptist Brethren Church in Flora. She and her husband, Floyd, wintered in Lakeland, Fla., for many years.

She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, quilting, and loved to read.

Surviving are a daughter, Zelpha Flora (Roger) of Lewisburg, Ohio; a son, Douglas Graham (Becky) of Bringhurst; a stepdaughter, Runella Hufford (Donald) of Rossville; a stepson, Marion Blocher (Beulah) of Flora; eight grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; 23 step-great-grandchildren; and 20 step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Flory and Alice Cline, and five brothers, Elmer, Harry, David, Otho, and Lloyd Holsinger.

Friends may call Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bachelor Run Old German Baptist Brethren Church in Flora. Funeral service will be there at 10 a.m. Friday with home brethren officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora.

Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi, is in charge of arrangements.
