Robert E. Scott

Robert E. “Bob” Scott, 91, of rural Camden, died at 4:49 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at McKinney Place in Logansport. He had been a resident there for the past year and a half.

Born Aug. 28, 1925, in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Robert C. and Merle Everett Scott. He graduated from the former Carrollton High School in 1943. His marriage was to Betty Jo Barnard on Aug. 7, 1944, in Flora; she preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 1996.

Bob served two years in the U.S. Coast Guard. After his discharge from the service, he worked for Jess Zook for a brief time. He then started farming, raising grain and livestock east of Camden in Carroll County.

He was a member of the Camden Baptist Church and Camden American Legion. He was active in 4-H and served as a leader for many years.

Bob enjoyed restoring and showing his antique tractors, driving them in the annual Carroll County 4-H Parade, and participating in the Antique Tractor Drive.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling and the many day trips they took.

Bob dearly loved his family and the gatherings they would share. He loved his grandchildren, and enjoyed taking Jamie to her sporting events.

Surviving are two daughters, Kay Yoder (Todd) of Camden and Sue Nipple (Mark) of Delphi; a son, Mike Scott (Kathy) of Camden; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Services were held Sunday at Wheeler Family Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, Flora. Pastor Jerry Long officiated. Burial followed at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora, with military rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard.
