As Oracle baseball gears up for its postseason run, they had a small bit of work left to do last week heading into the end of regular season play. They played North White, Eastern and a double header against Tipton. The Oracles worked their way by the first two opponents and split against Tipton.

The first game against North White ended in a shutout in Delphi’s favor. Pitchers Weston Windell and Luke Austin combined for 7 strikeouts. Ten runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings helped Delphi finish the contest with a final of 13-0.

The next night Delphi finished off a nail biter against Eastern, 3-2. With only 7 hits, the Oracles used a 2-run-second inning to give them an advantage for a majority of the contest. Early in the fourth Eastern tied the game up. Windell put the game away when he doubled off of an Eastern pitch, driving in the game solidifying run.

Saturday began with a rocky start. Delphi began their double header against Tipton dropping the first bout, 8-6. The game swung back and forth as each team took turns leading but it was Tipton’s 5-run explosion in the 6th that put the game out of reach.

The following game had the luck turning in the Oracles’ favor. Delphi fell behind early but took a 5-1 advantage after the third inning thanks in part to a single from Cade Murray that was responsible for 2 runs.

The top of the fifth began with more Delphi highlights as Jacob Clouser had a double that put one on the board followed by a single from Jayden McClain that was responsible for 2 runs.

The Oracles faced off against Clinton Central on Monday that will be followed by a showdown against Fountain Central at home on Thursday. Saturday will be Delphi’s last double header of the season against Rensselaer at home. Thursday’s game will begin at 5 p.m. while Saturday’s game starts at 10 a.m.
