C. Joe Garrison

C. Joe Garrison, 84, of Russiaville, passed away at 7:48 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Waterford Place Health Campus, Kokomo.

Joe was born on April 13, 1932, in Howard County, Ind., the son of Paul and Dorothy (Hendrix) Garrison. He was a 1950 graduate of Burlington High School where he played basketball. In 1952 he married Phyllis Cox, who passed away in 1988.

Joe was a lifetime dairy farmer. He was a member of the Burlington First Brethren Church and served on the Western School Board and the Monroe Township Board of Trustees.

He took pride in his herd of cows and loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters, Jeri Franco of Fort Worth, Texas, and Linda Johnston (Mark) of Russiaville; son, Charles Garrison of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren, Anna Akins (Percy), Carmen Franco, Elaine Franco (fiancé Caleb Lenard), Chad Johnston (Jessica), and Kelli Crume (Jeremy); seven great-grandchildren, Isiah Akins, Ian Akins, Nayeli Akins, Caleb Johnston, Clayton Johnston, Garrett Crume, Grady Crume; one sister, Karen Barnard (Bill); and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas Dean Garrison; and a sister, Eileen Garrison Hayes.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 18, at Stout & Son Funeral Home Neptune Chapel, Burlington, with Steve Cole officiating. Burial followed at Burlington Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Burlington Volunteer Fire Department.
