Although the (4-9) Cougars lost the game, the night was a huge success for the Coaches vs. Cancer fundraising events with a full house.

The game itself was entertaining, with its ups and downs. It did not look good for the Cougars early as the Tigers jumped out to an 18-4 advantage and led 20-7 after one quarter.

Instead of folding, Carroll started fighting back. With a 13-4 run they closed the gap to within 4 points at 24-20 with two minutes left in the half and 4 points remained the margin at half-time, 28-24, Northwestern.

The Cougars charged out of the locker room and scored six points to take the lead at 30-29. But the Tigers turned around with their own 13-4 run to go up 42-34 after three quarters. The visitors continued outscoring the Cougars in the final quarter to claim the victory.

Eric Miller led Carroll in scoring with a double-double – 17 points and 14 rebounds. Tim Ruby had 10 points and Ryan Spesard 9 points. Northwestern was led by Kylon Dubbels with 25 points. Trenton Brazel added 20 points and Chase Johnson, 13 points.

Carroll has a pair of home games this weekend. They host county rival (7-6) Delphi Friday and Hoosier Heartland Conference foe Clinton Prairie (6-8) on Saturday. JV wins 6th in row

Carroll (10-2) Junior Varsity struggled for most of Friday night’s home game against Northwestern but still managed a come-frombehind win at 34-30. This was the JV’s sixth straight win.

In the first half there were four ties and three lead changes. Carroll trailed 8-6 after one and 16-15 at half time. The third quarter was almost the Cougars’ downfall. The Tigers took a 7-point lead with 6 unanswered points to go up 22-15. Elliot Packard’s trey for Carroll made it 22-18 after three.

Baskets by Packard, Jarin Bush and Seth Eldridge gave Carroll a 6-0 run and the lead at 24-22. Two ties and four lead changes later, a fielder by Brandon Dillon gave Carroll the lead for good at 32-30. Dillon hit a pair of free throws with 6 seconds left to ice the game.

Packard led Carroll with 11 points. Eldridge had 7 points and Dillon, 6 points.
