Ronald W. Lewis

Ronald Wayne Lewis, 58, of Remington, died at 9:29 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, due to an automobile accident in White County.

He was born Aug. 8, 1953, in Richmond, Indiana, to the late Marvin and Alta Lewis. He graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1972 and then joined the United States National Guard.

His first marriage was to Sandee Lewis on Feb. 26, 1978, and they later divorced. He married Rita Kay Lewis on Dec. 12, 2009, at Crestview Church in Lafayette. She passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, in the same automobile accident.

He lived in Remington for over 30 years. Prior to that, he lived in Hagerstown.

Ronald was employed at Remington Hybrid Seed in Remington for over 30 years.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Remington, and attended Crestview Church in Lafayette.

He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, building Pinewood Derby cars, and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Surviving are his daughter, Veronica Gorney (husband: Nick) of Wolcott; his son, Josh Lewis (companion: Kathy Clark) of Fowler; three brothers, Ralph Lewis (wife: Nancy) of Modoc, Roger Lewis (wife: Janet) of Auburn, and Carl Lewis (wife: Debbie) of Kendallville; and two sisters, Cathy Stanback of Auburn and Vanessa Cross (husband: Terry) of Connorsville.

Ronald cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, Mary Gorney, McKenzee Miller, Dylan Gorney, Kody Gorney, Kamron Gorney and JP Clark.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

The service for both Ronald and Rita will be at 11 a.m. (EST) today, Wednesday, at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington, with the Rev. Randy Sparks and Pastor Thom Redmond officiating. Interment will follow at Remington Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to Guardian Angel Hospice of Lafayette.
