Rita K. Lewis

Rita Kay Lewis, 60, of Remington, formerly of Flora, died at 9:29 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, due to an automobile accident in White County.

She was born July 1, 1951, in Logansport, to William and Rosalee (Bowman) Seward. She graduated from Carroll High School in 1969.

She was married on Oct. 20, 1978, to Andrew Brannon, who preceded her in death in May 2008. She married Ronald Wayne Lewis on Dec. 12, 2009, at Crestview Church in Lafayette. He passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, in the same automobile accident.

Rita resided in Flora until 1992 when she moved to Lafayette. She later moved to Remington.

She retired from State Farm in 2007, and later worked at the Remington IGA.

She was a member of Crestview Church in Lafayette, and also attended the First Christian Church in Remington, where she attended Bible study.

Rita enjoyed playing the piano, cross-stitching, collecting Precious Moments figurines, country music, and was a NASCAR fan.

Surviving with her parents of Flora are two sons, Matt Garrison of Franklin, and Greg Garrison (wife: Leah) of Indianapolis; one sister, Nancy Gordon (husband: Gilbert) of Lafayette.

Rita adored and loved spending time with her grandchildren, Courtney, Derek, Nicholas, Ian and Ben Garrison. She also cherished her precious dog, Radar.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Seward.

The service for both Rita and Ronald will be at 11 a.m. (EST) today, Wednesday, at Stitz- Clapper Funeral Home of Remington, with the Rev. Randy Sparks and Pastor Thom Redmond officiating. Interment will follow at Remington Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to Guardian Angel Hospice of Lafayette.
