David P. Cable

David Paul Cable, 65, of Camden, died at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at IU Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette. He had been a patient there since Sunday and in ill health the past 16 months.

He was born Feb. 17, 1946, in Logansport, to the late Paul and Wilmadean Snyder Wherley Cable. He was a 1964 graduate of Camden High School. On June 28, 1964, in Flora, he married Rose M. Trent and she survives.

David and his wife owned Cable Construction & Cable Trucking for many years. He was last employed by Flora Trucking.

He was a member of the Deer Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church.

He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, enjoying his family vacations to Pike Lake, Minn., for over 30 years.

David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and dearly loved all of his family and many friends. He was devout in his faith and loved his good Lord, and was a testament to his family. He battled his illness with courage and never complained about the conditions handed to him. He loved being surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren, enjoying a simple meal, and good conversation around the dinner table or campfire. He will be truly missed by all his family, but we are rejoicing at his going home to be with his Lord and Savior.

Surviving with his wife are son, Philip D. Cable (companion: Christine Wagner) and her children Hayley and Garret Wagner of Burnettsville; son Mark Cable (wife: Andrea) of Bringhurst; daughter Leah Abbott (husband: Carl) of Delphi; grandchildren, Kirbie, Tyler, Wesley, Bailey, and Avery Cable and Noah, Myah, and Elah Abbott; three sisters Ruth Hatton (husband: John) of Camden, Mary E. Wolf of Pyrmont, and Anita Brubaker (husband: Dale) of Avon; a brother, Russell Cable (wife: Marta) of Venice, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Judy Cable of Fillmore; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond.

Funeral service was held Sunday at the Deer Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Camden, with home brethren officiating. Burial followed at Musselman Cemetery, Camden.

Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi, was in charge of arrangements.
