Shockley files for surveyor

Shockley Shockley Donald “Donnie” Shockley has filed as a candidate for the Republican nomination for Carroll County Surveyor. He is a resident of Delphi and has lived in Carroll County for 35 years.

The political newcomer has worked with the Carroll County Highway Department for the last sixteen years, with six of those years dealing with culverts, ditching and tile repair work. The highway department has been using a Geographic Information System (GIS) for two years, starting with signs and now expanding to culverts. Shockley said that the knowledge of how GIS works will help him utilize the system dealing with the drainage map layer.

Shockley is currently volunteering his weekends by helping build a bowling center, located next to Alcoa, and has also just finished serving three years on the board of Delphi Youth Baseball, which included two years as Vice President. Donnie has also been a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.

The candidate said the surveyor position would be a good fit for him because of the knowledge and experience he has gained from working on the county highway department. The candidate enjoys interacting with the public and also volunteering his time for others in need.

Shockley graduated from Delphi Community High School in 1991. He and his wife of 18 years, Lee Anne, have two children, Donald (DJ) 18 and Branden, 13. His parents are Tom and Donna Shockley of Delphi.
