The library is one of 100 sites in the state to receive a free visit from the Indiana Historical Society’s Hoosier Heritage Alliance, which provides on-site collections care training. On Feb. 15 a trainer will spend a day at the library assessing the archives, and teaching techniques for display, handling and storage.
The public is invited to stop in between 1:30 and 3 p.m. to see items of local historical interest, help identify people and places in old photographs, and pick up preservation tips. The society’s visit is part of the library’s adult winter reading program, “Cool Reads,” which continues through March 9.
The February selection of the library’s book club is “Light on Snow” by Anita Shreve. Written from the point of view of 30- year-old Nicky as she recalls the vivid images of a fateful December day, her story is one of love and courage, of tragedy and redemption, and of the ways in which the human heart always seeks to heal itself. The Flora Book Club will meet Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. in the Flora Senior Center.
The theme for the next storytime is “Penguins.” The bestdressed animals in the world are penguins! Visit the South Pole for some icy cold fun! Preschool storytime is Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m.
