Prayer gathering draws Christian community together

Comet staff report

Residents come together to pray for county Residents come together to pray for county Nearly 300 members of the Christian community from throughout Carroll County gathered recently at the Canal Center in Delphi for a time of worship and prayer. No one wore denominational labels; unity around the purpose of Christ reigned.

Representing 20 churches, the Christian community gathered for one purpose - to pray for the citizens of Carroll County. Fourteen area pastors joined in as well, with several exhorting the people towards the following six areas of prayer: repentance, our nation, the Carroll County community, our schools, pastors, and for revival.

Among the multi-denominational team of pastors who led this event, there was a common theme: “We have strayed from God and His plan for our lives. Our families, our schools and our communities are suffering the effects of a lifestyle that has separated us from the God who created us, who loves us and who longs for us to ‘come home’ to a relationship with Him.” Prayers of repentance were offered.

At the conclusion of the prayer gathering, there was a common consensus that brought hope and excitement to those who attended. A follow-up gathering is tentatively scheduled for Jan. 8.
