Ruby Minniear
Ruby Cheesman Minniear, 87, of Lafayette, died at 3:07 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at Rosewalk Commons in Lafayette.
Born June 25, 1923, in West Point, she was the daughter of the late Purdue and Louise Kerfoot Cheesman and stepdaughter of Addie Kerfoot Cheesman. Her marriage was on May 2, 1954, at the Federated Church in West Lafayette, to Clarence T. Minniear, who survives.
Mrs. Minniear was a homemaker. She worked at Home Hospital and the Old Hooks Drug Store at Sixth and Main streets in Lafayette as a teenager.
She and her husband raised their children on Happy Hollow Road in West Lafayette and in their later years on Meadow Drive in Lafayette.
She was a charter member of the Federated Church in West Lafayette, past president of the VFW Auxiliary #1154, past president of American Legion Post #11 Auxiliary, past DAV Auxiliary Commander, past president of Purple Heart Club #1922, a member of 40 & 8 and a member of the Military Order of Cooties Pup Tent #2 Auxiliary.
Surviving with her husband are her children Richard A. “Dick” Graves (wife: Tresa) and Linda Sue Troup (husband: Ray), both of Lafayette, Thomas C. Minniear of Fresno, Calif., and Donna Lou Shultz of Florida; two stepchildren, Richard “Dick” Minniear (wife: Patsy) of Indianapolis and Barbara Siegelin of Madison; two sisters, Rita Cheesman Kingery of Lafayette and Vera D. Cheesman Marcum (husband: Bob) of Delphi; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a son, Ronnie Cheesman.
Services will be today, Wednesday, at 10 a.m. at Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette. The Rev. David Mills, senior minister of Federated Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Garden.
