Professional organizer to speak at Flora Library

Watson Watson Tired of trying to manage your home and your evergrowing pile of possessions? Overwhelmed by the neverending parade of important papers that link you to appointments, events, children’s activities, insurance policies, and financial information? Do you have a huge file of appliance manuals for things you no longer own? Laundry baskets full of photos? Afraid to open your closets and cupboards for fear of an avalanche? Time to call in a professional!

Lori Watson, professional organizer and owner of Anyone & Everything Organized, LLC (Carmel) will speak tomorrow, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. at the Flora Public Library. Her practical advice is backed up by motivational reasons for organizing, from saving time, money, and resources to saving lives (childproofing, etc.). This is a free program, and no registration is required. Call the Flora Library at 574- 967-3912 with questions.

Watson says most people find disorganization and chaos prevents them from charting the course they desire for their lives. Sometimes this is a temporary situation caused by a move or loss of a loved one. Sometimes, disorganization is all they have ever known and they realize they are not living the life they want because of it. Her career is devoted to helping people create a life of organization, peace and calm.

Watson was an R.N. for nearly 30 years before “going pro” as an organizer. She is a member of the National Association of Prof essional Organizers, and the National Association of Senior Move Managers. She is involved in the National Study Group for Chronic Disorganization. Watson is actively working to become certified by all three (her goal for 2011).

While the focus of Thursday’s program is improving your life by organizing your home, Watson will touch on other areas of tremendous current interest, such as downsizing for people who are transitioning to smaller homes or assisted living. She also works with the chronically disorganized, which can include people with ADD, ADHD, compulsive shoppers, and hoarders like the subjects of the popular A & E show by the same name. While most people don’t fall into this chronic category, Watson can answer questions on what behaviors can be considered red flags.

This presentation is one of several events planned by the Camden, Delphi, and Flora public libraries as part of Carroll County on the Same Page, a one county/one book program. The 2010 book selection is “The Help” by Katherine Stockett. Multiple copies are available at each of the three public libraries, and may be checked out by any county resident.
