Local resident wins gold medal

Brian Simmons of Delphi has been competing in the Special Olympics since he was five years old and has won several silver medals. Two weeks ago at Eagle Creek near Indianapolis his softball team, the Steelers, defeated their opponent 3-0 to win a gold medal. He played infield and helped bat his team to victory. Simmons is pictured here proudly displaying his very first gold medal. He has been employed at CDC in Monticello for the past year where he does piece work and shreds documents for local companies. He is the son of Duane and Nancy Simmons of Delphi.
