Ruth L. Snyder
Ruth L. Snyder of Delphi died Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi, one day after her 95th birthday. She had resided there the last seven months.
Born Aug. 29, 1915, in McMinnville, Tenn., she was the daughter of George Washington and Ethel Brewer Snipes. She eloped on Dec. 24, 1936, with Mack Snyder, who preceded her in death March 11, 1989.
Mrs. Snyder was a 1934 graduate of Camden High School.
She and her husband started housekeeping on the family farm near Burrows. They resided there over 50 years before moving to West Lafayette.
Mrs. Snyder was a farm wife for many years and loved gardening and quilting.
She was a member of the Delphi Christian Church, Christian Women’s Fellowship, and Cairo Home Economics Club in West Lafayette.
Surviving are two daughters, Marilou Broadbent (husband: Richard) of Sacramento, Calif., and Ellen Bruno (husband: Rich Garland) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; a sonin law, John H. Haan of West Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Kevin Broadbent (wife: Kris) of Roseville, Calif., Kurt Broadbent of Sacramento, Calif., Kent Broadbent (wife: Jamie) of Comas, Wash., Krisann Broadbent of Edmonds, Wash., Kraig Broadbent, Stanfield, Ariz., Kathy Shumard (husband: Mike) of West Lafayette, Krissy Harp (husband: Sonny) of West Lafayette and Karen Kipp (husband: John) of Fort Wayne; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a daughter, Marilyn Haan who passed away Aug. 18, 2006.
Services to celebrate her life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cree Funeral Home, Camden. Burial will follow at the Rockfield I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
