Mark Stern

Mark Stern, 89, of Logansport, went home to be with the Lord at 9:05 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010.

Born Nov. 9, 1920, near Noblesville, he was the son of Samuel D. and Maggie Wheeler Stern. His marriage was on June 3, 1942, to Florence Fulton, who preceded him in death in October 2009. They were married 67 years.

Mr. Stern attended grade school at Refuge #9 near Noblesville and high school at Noblesville High School.

He met his wife while working at the Firestone Rubber Plant in Noblesville. They both accepted Christ as their Savior when they were young and spent their lives serving God.

Mr. Stern operated dairy farms near Sheridan and Portland for several years. He also worked at Ford Fence Company in Broad Ripple. In 1971 they moved near Camden where he managed Golden Egg House cage layer operation until he retired in 1985.

Surviving are five sons, Duane Mark Stern (wife: Nancy) of Arcadia, Dale Stern of Lafayette, Ken Stern (wife: Ellen) of Littleton, Colo., Steve Stern of Lafayette, and Rex Stern (wife: Susan) of Delphi; three daughters, Lucy Smith (husband: Scott) of Camden, Diana Heiss (husband: Butch) of Sparta, Mich., and Bonnie O’Neill (husband: Jim) of Pensacola, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were four older sisters.

Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Union Friends Church in Westfield. Burial will follow at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Reinke Funeral Home, Flora, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Radnor United Methodist Church.
