ISP to conduct DUI checkpoint

Comet staff report

Officers from the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post, Monticello Police Department and the White County Sherriff’s Department will conduct an enforcement check point on the evening of Sept. 4 to target impaired drivers in White County.

After the checkpoint, troopers will conduct roving saturation patrols aggressively seeking impaired drivers throughout the district which covers Carroll, Benton, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Warren and White counties.

“The purpose of enforcement checkpoints is to remove impaired drivers from Indiana roadways before they cause needless pain, suffering, and death to innocent victims,” Indiana State Police Sgt. Dan Ziegler said. “Checkpoints also educate the motoring public of the ongoing efforts by the Indiana State Police to reduce the number of impaired driving crashes and deter anyone from driving while intoxicated.”
