Earl and Ernest Wolf are 91- year-old twins. They grew up in Carroll County, but Earl now lives in Rossville, and Ernest lives in Roanoke, Va. The two keep in touch by talking on the phone.

Six years ago, Earl went to Virginia to visit his brother. They thought that might be the last time they could get together.

But in August, Ernest came to visit Earl – at Milner’s Assisted Living in Rossville. He came for a few days, so some family members got to visit with the brothers, but they also made sure the two of them had time just to themselves.

Earl had told Ernest to be sure and bring his harmonica. To family members’ delight, the two played their harmonicas and sang, just like they used to do when they were young. They chose the old songs they remembered, like “Cowboy Jack.”

The two talked, and laughed, and reminisced.

The twins grew up in the Flora-Camden area, and had an older brother, Robert. Both brothers farmed, and Earl also worked for Zinn Kitchens.

Earl lived in the Flora-Camden area all his life until moving to the Assisted Living in Rossville. Ernest lived in the Pyrmont area before moving to Virginia.

The twins were married on the same day, Sept. 24, 1940, in a double ceremony near Pyrmont.

Earl’s wife, Mary Lois, is still living and is in the Milner nursing home. This year they will be celebrating their 70th anniversary. They have two sons, Charles Wolf of Flora and Eugene Wolf of Camden.

Ernest and his wife, Lois, were married nearly 50 years when she died in 1990. Their sons are Glenn Wolf and Ron Wolf, of Texas. One son, Carroll, is deceased.

Ernest and his second wife, Frances, are both in a nursing home in Roanoke. Ernest has three stepsons.

The twins have a milestone coming up next month. They will be 92 on Oct. 9.
