Clements Clements The CARROLL COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE helped sponsor a seminar on Aug. 25 at the University Plaza Hotel in West Lafayette. The program featured Bob Burg and his Endless Referrals program. LOGANSPORT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL has been recognized as one of the 2010 Healthiest Employers in Indiana, an awards program presented by Indiana Business Journal and Mavum Consulting. Five employers from Indiana were honored as winners of the awards program held Aug. 24 in Indianapolis. Logansport Memorial Hospital, the only healthcare organization among the five winners, won the Healthiest Employer award in the category for 500 – 1,499 employees.

Burns Burns Healthiest Employers is an innovative awards program that recognizes organizations that proactively shape the health of their employees.

Internally, Memorial promotes a wellness culture through “Culture Connection,” a health management program began in 1998 to improve all aspects of its employees’ health – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. In 2010, 86% of total employees and 98% of employees enrolled in health benefits (and 90% of spouses) participate in Culture Connection programming to reduce health insurance premiums and earn cash rewards. Data from the program demonstrates that coronary disease risks, nutritional risks, fitness status and health age have improved.

JACK CLEMENTS has joined the staff at Water Tower Place Apartments in Delphi as the new maintenance technician.

Clements has 15 years of professional maintenance experience and will be handling residential emergencies as well as daily maintenance tasks.

NOBLE BIKES at Canal Park in Delphi has expanded.

Noble Bikes has acquired additional rentals to their fleet of bicycles for recreational opportunities in the Delphi area. Patrons can now rent commercial grade paddleboats and kayaks for use on the restored section of the Wabash and Erie Canal in Delphi.

Noble Bikes is located in Canal Park, on the original Canal Tow Path Trail, 1030 N. Washington St., Delphi, and is now open daily weekends through October, excluding Labor Day weekend.

The CARROLL COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE has joined with Physicians Health Plan of Northern Indiana, Inc. (PHP), a not-for-profit managed care organization, to offer Health Matters, a discount health care insurance program. The Carroll County Chamber is one of 22 Chambers of Commerce across the area participating in the program.

Carroll County Chamber business members with 2 to 50 employees that are eligible for insurance coverage can receive up to a five percent savings on their group health care insurance when they select PHP coverage.

“The Carroll County Chamber wanted to offer its members a benefit that supports small business and their employees,” Chamber Executive Director Sana Booker said. “This is perfect for our county.“

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and Physicians Health Plan will begin distributing information packets and releasing quotes for health insurance immediately. For more information on the discount program, contact the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce or PHP at (260) 432- 6690.

Carroll County SHERIFF TONY BURNS has an additional title along with that of county sheriff.

Burns was elected from a group of his peer sheriffs to serve on the Indiana Sheriff’s Association (ISA) Board of Directors as a three-year trustee last month during the ISA’s annual conference in Merrillville. The ISA annually elects sheriffs to serve on its board of directors during the summer conference.

“I feel honored and privileged to be selected by my fellow Indiana sheriffs to serve the board and the association. I look forward to continuing to work with the Indiana Sheriff’s Association in our ongoing efforts to make not only Indiana but our community a safe place to live and work,” Sheriff Burns said.
