Delphi Preservation Society (DPS) sponsored several events during the 155th Carroll County Old Settlers Celebration.
The John Patrick comedy “A Bad Year for Tomatoes” was performed five times in the rear of the Opera House Gallery of Contemporary Art by the Delphi Public Library’s Red Brick Theater Company. The play was under the direction of Sara Daly Brosman, who also acted in the production. Other cast members were Kayla Haley, Jimmy Reed, Grace Currie, Hannah Evans, Andrew Martin, and Daniel Martin.
At the end of the Saturday evening performance, the DPS presented a check for $400 to the Red Brick Theater Company representing the proceeds from ticket sales.

The collaborative effort of these Delphi organizations draws attention to the project to restore the Delphi Opera House as a home for the performing arts and as a center for community activities, DPS member Anita Werling said.
On Friday evening, former DPS president Tom Atkinson gave an informative and entertaining Powerpoint presentation highlighting many postcards from his extensive collection. Among those represented was a panoramic view of the second courthouse, the Soldiers Monument, and South Washington Street sold at J.E. Ruffing’s store. The card was manufactured sometime between 1901 and 1907 - a period when messages had to be written on the face of the card with the back restricted to only the address.
Narrated trolley tours of historic downtown Delphi were offered at 5 and 7 p.m. Saturday with Craig Wellnitz and Brian Stirm providing the rolling commentary. Meanwhile keg root beer was offered at the DPS booth with the Lions Club donating the ice cream to create root beer floats.
Opera House tours were offered on demand throughout the festival showing off the newly discovered “barber shop” sign as well as the work underway to remove the plaster medallions from the ceiling of the Opera House.
