Just a volunteer

Who is a Carroll County firefighter? Your neighbor, your son, your husband, your father, your brother.

When our pagers go off at all hours of the day or night, we don’t hesitate to respond to whatever emergency it might be. Some are life emergencies, some are not. Some are small fires, some are more than we can handle. Do we care? No, because we train for these emergencies. We spend countless hours being up all night, and working all day. We call upon other volunteer departments to assist in emergencies too big for a single department.

Some people think firefighters are heroes, but we are not. We serve our community with the utmost respect. Do we do it for the glory and fame? No, we do it because we care. Do we have fears? Yes, we do.

Volunteer firefighters are just a group of individuals trying to serve our communities to the best of our abilities.
