School registration begins next week

Delphi Community, Carroll Consolidated, Rossville Consolidated, and Twin Lakes school corporations announce school opening information, including registration dates, book rental fees, and lunch prices.

Carroll

The first day of classes for students in the Carroll Consolidated School Corporation will be Monday, Aug. 16.

Registration

Student registration will be Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Aug. 4, 5, and 6. All registrations will take place at Carroll Junior-Senior High School (including all elementary students). On Aug. 4 and 5, registration hours will be noon to 6 p.m. On Aug. 6, hours will be 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.

Registration may also be done online at www.carroll.k12.in.us by accessing Harmony.

Parents or students need to have the following information available during registration: emergency phone numbers, Social Security numbers, new immunization information and new medical emergency information.

The Carroll County Health Department will have a clinic at Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School during registration on Aug. 5 to give the three immunizations that the State now requires. The clinic will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Parents should bring their child’s Immunization Record and the letter that the school handed out. Kindergarten shots will not be given at this clinic.

The elementary supply list is available on the corporation website. Go to the elementary site, and click on “office.” Some junior-senior high school teachers also require special supplies. These lists will be available at the school during registration or on the first day of school.

Elementary open house

Carroll Elementary will have an open house Friday, Aug. 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. for all elementary students and parents. Students can bring their supplies, find their room, and meet their teacher.

7th grade orientation

Seventh grade orientation will be Thursday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Hosted by the Guidance Department, the meeting is for all incoming seventh graders and their parents. Information regarding building procedures, lunches, lockers, and the line system will be presented. Students will have time to tour the building and practice opening their lockers.

Book rental & lunch fees

Elementary book rental fees are: Kindergarten, $73.41 (birth certificate and immunization records are needed if child did not attend spring kindergarten round-up); first grade, $92.99; second grade, $88.42; third grade, $94.51; fourth grade, $89.25; fifth grade, $92.80; sixth grade, $101.16.

Junior and senior high school book rental is based on the student’s individual schedule.

Lunch and breakfast fees will be the same as last year. The lunch fee for students is $1.45 daily at the elementary and $1.55 daily at Carroll Junior Senior High School. Elementary breakfast fee is 85 cents per day.

Delphi Community

The first day of classes for students in the Delphi Community School Corporation will be Thursday, Aug. 12.

Registration

Registration dates and times for all schools will be Aug. 3 and 4 from noon to 8 p.m. in the high school commons.

‘Meet Your Teacher Night’ for parents of incoming sixth graders will be Aug. 5 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the DCMS cafetorium.

Freshman orientation will be Aug. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the high school.

Immunization Clinic

The Carroll County Health Department will have a clinic at each school to give the three immunizations that are now required by the state. There will be a clinic at the Delphi school during registration Aug. 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. Bring both the child’s immunization record and school letter. There will be no kindergarten shots at this time.

Prayer Breakfast

The superintendent’s prayer breakfast will be Aug. 11 at 7 a.m. with guest speaker Dr. Will Miller, an ordained minister of the University Church at Purdue, in the DCHS Little Theatre. Breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m. in the high school commons.

Book rental

Book rental fees are as follows:

Kindergarten: $112.00 1st grade: $130.61 2nd grade: $137.43 3rd grade: $132.29 4th grade: $126.70 5th grade: $140.47

Grades 6-8: $131

Grades 9-12: per course*

*Textbook rental or payment arrangements are due at the time of registration. Free and reduced lunch and textbook applications will be available at registration.

School hours

Elementary: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Early Childhood Center: 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.; Middle school: 8 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. and High school: 8 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.

School meals

Elementary and middle school breakfast will be $1 per day ($5 per week.) Elementary lunch will be $1.50 per day ($7.50 per week.) Extra milk will be 30 cents per day ($1.50 per week.) Middle school and high school lunches will be $1.75 per day ($8.75 per week.) Adult lunches will be $2.40.

Rossville

First day of school for students in the Rossville Consolidated School District will be Tuesday, Aug. 17, from 8:05 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.

A staff orientation/teacher workday will be held Aug. 16 at 8 a.m.

Registration

Online registration information has been mailed to students. Students without Internet access may register at their respective schools on registration dates: Wednesday, Aug. 4, from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., and Friday, Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.

Sixth grade orientation

Sixth grade orientation will be Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. in the multipurpose room.

Book rental

Book rental fees are as follows: Half-day kindergarten, $58; full-day kindergarten, $74; first grade, $100; second grade, $90; third grade, $96; fourth grade, $70; fifth grade, $75; Intense Program, $60. Textbook fees for grades 6-12 are based on courses taken.

Payment options are: Delayed payment plan, arranged delayed payment plan, submit a Financial Assistance Application for book rental and fees payment, and online payment. Contact the schools for more information.

Breakfast & lunch fees

Breakfast price will remain the same as last year, $1. Lunch prices also will remain the same: $1.85 for elementary students, $2.05 for middle/ high school students, $3 for adults, and 40 cents for reduced price meals. Deposits to the student lunch accounts may be made online.

Bus pick-up times

On the first day of school (Aug. 17), students planning to ride a bus should be ready to board the bus at 7 a.m.; 7:30 a.m. for the town route. Some of the bus routes could possibly be revised causing their arrival time at each stop to be uncertain.

Twin Lakes

The first day of classes for students in the Twin Lakes School Corporation (TLSC) will be Tuesday, Aug. 17. Staff orientation will be held the day before on Aug. 16. Additional information may be found on the TLSC web site, www.twinlakes.k12.in.us.

Registration Elementary

Students entering grades K- 5 for the 2010/2011 school year may register on the following dates: •Thursday, Aug. 5 – 12 to 7 p.m. •Friday, Aug. 6 – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. •Monday, Aug. 8 – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Middle school

Registration dates and times are: Aug. 5 from 12 noon to 7 p.m. and Aug. 6 and 9 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Middle school students (grades 6, 7, and 8) who are new to the TLSC, are asked to contact the guidance office at Roosevelt Middle School (574-583-5552) between the hours of 8 a.m. -3:30 p.m., to schedule an appointment to register for classes. High school

Students in grades 9 to 12 may pick up their schedules in the guidance office on registration days: Aug. 5 from 12 noon to 7 p.m. and Aug. 6 and 9 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

High school students new to TLSC are asked to contact the guidance office (574- 583-7108) for an appointment to register for classes. This does not apply to students who were 8th graders last year at Roosevelt Middle School or any other Twin Lakes High School student who has already registered for classes.

Book rental

Book rental is due and payable for students at the time of registration. Checks should be made payable to Twin Lakes School Corporation and submitted to the secretary in the school that each student will be attending.

Fees are as follows: kindergarten $55, 1st grade $89, 2nd grade $79, 3rd grade $87, 4th grade $92, 5th grade $95, 6th grade $104. Add additional fees for art, band and chorus – 7th grade $90, 8th grade $93, and high school course costs.

Freshman orientation

Freshmen orientation will be held Aug. 13 from 8:10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Students can register early (before July 30) to receive a t-shirt at the high school in the main office or in the guidance office. Registrations will also be taken on Aug. 13, but students will not receive a t-shirt if they register after July 30. Students are to meet in the high school gymnasium and enter from the student parking lot.

Immunization clinic

Indiana has new vaccination requirements. Plans are being finalized for the White County Health Department to host immunization clinics on registration days. For more information, contact the Health Department at (574) 583-8254.
