Calling all artists! Help us recreate 1960’s poster art at our “Carroll County on the Same Page” art event on July 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The works of artists such as Peter Max and Wes Wilson will be studied and recreated in a large format. The oversized works will be used for a backdrop for the ‘60s fashion and culture retrospective scheduled in September. Call to reserve a spot.

A ‘60’s musical review will be held Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Porcupine Truffle, 21 S. Center St., Flora. The event follows the theme of the 2010 Carroll County on the Same Page selection of “The Help” by Kathryn Stockett. The ‘60’s introduced us to The Beatles, The Kinks, Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys and Peter, Paul and Mary. Join us for a throw-back evening of an era of great music when Steve Hill, with Roddy Goings and some home-grown talent, provide an evening of entertainment. The event will be free but there will be a fee for dessert and beverages.

Red Brick Theatre will present “A Bad Year for Tomatoes,” a comedy by John Patrick at the Opera House Gallery of Fine Art Aug. 11 and 12 at 7 p.m., Aug. 13 and 14 at 8 p.m., and a 2 p.m. matinee on the Aug. 14. Tickets will go on sale Aug. 5 at The Opera House Gallery.

For information, call (765) 564-2929.

The “Make a Splash, Read!” summer reading program has come to an end. Over 300 campers read books, attended programs and created with us this summer.

We’ve had a fun-filled summer of music, puppets, art, and lots of “splashing” with programs, stories, and prizes.

A generous donation from the local Psi Iota Xi makes our great programming possible.

Art students who participated in this summer’s classes are asked to pick up their treasures at the main desk. Call the library if you have any questions, 967-3912.

Come to the Porcupine Truffle in downtown Flora on Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. for a Coffee House Music Review featuring the music of the 1960s. Join us as we go back to an era of great music with performer Steve Hill and other local talent. The evening is free but guests will need to pay for dessert and/or beverages.

The Coffee House is a Carroll County on the Same Page event.

The library’s book club will meet Aug. 18 to discuss “Chocolat” by Joanne Harris. The club meets in the Flora Senior Center on the third Wednesday of each month. New members are always welcome, and all ages are invited to participate.

Storytime will start its fall season on Aug. 17. Until then call the library’s Dial-a-Story, 967-3814, to hear short stories day or night. The tale presently playing is “The Proud Rooster.” Friday kids can call in to hear “The Brave Tin Soldier.”
