The program began in April 2005 and since that time Carroll County’s Multi-County Community Trust initiative has donated a total of $154,937.75 back those counties.

“Each quarter, we are able to assist many worthwhile projects because of our members’ commitment to Operation Round Up,” said Randy W. Price, Carroll County REMC CEO. “Pennies do indeed add-up. If you are not one of our members rounding up your monthly bill, we encourage you to become part of the team who are reaching out to the communities we serve.”

The largest donation this quarter, $2,500, went to the Delphi Preservation Society to be used for advertising costs associated with a planned Delphi Diamond Dash 5K Run/Walk to be held in the fall. This planned fundraiser is part of an ongoing project to preserve the Delphi Opera House.

“The race is expected to draw at least 500 racers and walkers,” said Karyl Traeger, event coordinator.

The advertising costs will include colorful banners to be placed around the historic Courthouse Square, recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Delphi Public Library received a $2,000 grant for an Early Literacy Station at the Northwest Carroll Library at Yeoman.

Three $1,000 grants were awarded to the following: The Town of Yeoman for its Community Building; Keepin’ It Real to re-roof its Flora recovery home; and Carroll County Focus on the Future for a 12-week English as a second language class.

Carroll County Junior Achievement received $768 for the 9th grade Success Skills program.

Delphi Community High School received $500 for material for Battle of the Books.

Boy Scouts of America Troop #155 received $410 for leadership classes.
