Veta Nell Brown Meade, 92, formerly of Green Tree Assisted Living in West Lafayette, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, March 14, 2010, at her son’s home near Buck Creek. She had been residing with him the past 11 months due to declining health.

Born April 4, 1917, in Warrensburg, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Oliver Morris and Blanch Ann Kelly Brown. She was a 1934 graduate of Warrensburg College High School. On Jan. 11, 1948, in Mission, Kan., she married Joseph Leighton Meade, who preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1970.

Mrs. Meade was employed for many years as an officer and in management at the United Missouri Bank in Warrensburg, retiring on April 30, 1982.

She was a past president of the Professional Business Woman’s Association in Warrensburg.

Mrs. Meade lived all of her life in Warrensburg before moving to West Lafayette on July 11, 2003. She resided there for five years before moving in with her son.

Surviving are a son, Kelly M. Day of Buck Creek; a granddaughter; four grandsons; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

Services were held Tuesday at Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi. Her family officiated. Burial will be in Warrensburg, Mo., on Thursday.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
