James E. “Jim” Mc- Greevey, 76, of Delphi, died at 1:10 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at his residence. He had battled cancer for the past six months.

Born April 6, 1933, in Carroll County, he was the son of the late John E. and Mildred M. Hoover McGreevey. His marriage was on Oct. 6, 1956, in Delphi, to Carol Ann Lamb, who preceded him in death June 14, 2009.

Mr. McGreevey was a 1951 graduate of Delphi High School. He attended Notre Dame University in South Bend.

He served two years in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.

Mr. McGreevey and his wife owned and operated J&J Disposal Service for 28 years. In 1985 they purchased the Delphi Pizza King and operated it to the present.

He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi, where he served on the parish council.

He was a member of the Delphi Lions Club and a past president. He was very active with the Leader Dog Program, received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, and was active with the International Lions Club, traveling with his wife to conventions all around the world.

Mr. McGreevey was also very active with the Delphi Chamber of Commerce, having received the community appearance award and at the January annual banquet was presented the Samuel Milroy Award, honoring him for community service.

Mr. McGreevey and his wife enjoyed traveling in their RV across America. He enjoyed playing the piano and his family.

Surviving are four daughters, Vickie Smith (husband: Bob) and Brenda Dages (husband: Tim), both of Indianapolis, Terrie Kenney (husband: Wayne) of Waterloo, and Kellie M. Martin of Delphi; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Visitation will be today, Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi. Father Peter Vanderkolk will officiate. Burial will follow at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military rites by Delphi and Camden American Legion and Delphi VFW.

Memorials may be made to the Carroll County Cancer Association or the American Lung Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
