Comet staff report

As the weather becomes warmer, thoughts naturally turn to summer camps. This summer, Camp Tecumseh YMCA will offer Day Camp for children from Carroll and the surrounding counties. The camp will host an open house from 2 to 6 p.m. on April 18.

For over 35 years, Camp Tecumseh’s Day Camp has been helping to build the youth of the community into strong and independent leaders. The program is designed around the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. All of the day camp activities help instill a sense of confidence in campers as seen by quotes from several camper parents.

“My son comes home very confident because he has tried new things,” says one parent. “It has helped him become more independent and make new friends,” said another.

“Camp helped my daughter make friends and get along with others. She had a great time.” A parent wrote in 2009.

While campers will recognize and appreciate all of the fun activities at camp including games, sports, swimming, horseback riding, Gold Rush, the Black Hole and more, the real hallmark of day camp is the staff which provide these experiences for the kids. They are excellent role models chosen to provide activities that are safe and fun.

Families who may need fee assistance should contact the Camp Tecumseh office for a day camp scholarship application.

For information or to register, contact Day Camp Director Joel Sieplinga at (765) 564-2898 or go to camptecumseh.org/daycamp.
