Rossville wins gold at leadership conference

Photo provided Fourteen members of Rossville Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competed at State Leadership Conference March 4-6.

Rossville members won 11 silver medals and three gold medals. Five members are national qualifiers and five other members are national qualifier alternates.

FCCLA is a state and national student vocational organization whose main purpose is to improve the function of the family as the basic unit of society. Members learn and practice vocational skills such as planning, decision making, goal setting, and speaking skills through completing projects of the students’ choice that serve their family, school and community.

Rossville FCCLA members winning gold medals and national qualifiers are:

• Whitney Keafer in Fabric Construction that featured her graduation dress

• Katlyn Mellinger and Elizabeth Anderson in Focus on Children Jr. which taught elementary children what to do in case of a fire

• Chelsie Gordon and Shannon Stull in Chapter Service, Jr. Manual with their work with the needy in our community

Winning Silver and National Qualifier alternates are:

• Jamie Kubsch, Trexie Wolfs, and Tanner Rudd in Chapter Showcase Display Sr. which detailed all the leadership and service activities of the club throughout the entire year.

• Savhanna Hodson and Blaine Holderbaum in Chapter Service Display Jr. with their work with teaching elementary children about the dangers of obesity.

Silver medalists include:

Chelsea Denham and Elizabeth Hurley in Chapter Service Sr. with their work with the Kokomo Rescue Mission, the Clinton County Ministry of Hope, and the Rossville Food Pantry.

• Samantha Kelly in Focus on Children Sr. that taught elementary age children about bullying.

• Ashley Hodson in Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle Sr. with her Creative Pop Tab Creations.
